We're a Y Combinator-backed startup (W23) with impressive backing from industry leaders including David Karp (Tumblr Founder) and Andrew Kortina (Venmo Founder). Our existing storyboarding software already serves 700K users, demonstrating strong product-market fit.

As a Backend Engineer, you'll be joining a small but ambitious team working on next-generation creative tools that leverage video game interfaces, 3D computing, and AI to revolutionize webcomic creation. The role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and creative storytelling.

The webcomic/digital manga industry is a $12B market in East Asia and rapidly expanding globally. Webtoon, the market leader, generates $100M monthly in revenue. However, their growth is constrained by the limited number of skilled artists. We're solving this bottleneck by making comic creation accessible to everyone.

You'll be working directly with our founders: Charles Forman, who previously founded OMGPOP (acquired by Zynga for $200M), and Joe Watkins, who led computer vision/ML teams at Google and Waymo. This position offers significant growth potential and the chance to shape the future of digital storytelling.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience with Node.js and Next.js, along with React knowledge. You'll be working on building robust backend systems that power our creative tools and platform. A passion for narrative fiction, particularly webcomics/manga, and previous game development experience would be valuable assets.
