Job Description
Teledyne Technologies is seeking a Senior Principal Development Engineer to lead the development of advanced electronic systems for defense and space applications. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise with team management responsibilities. The position involves working with complex product designs from semiconductor-level components to fully integrated box-level systems.
The role requires leading product development across the full lifecycle, from concept to production, while managing and directing an engineering team. Responsibilities For Senior Principal Development Engineer
- Lead product development from concept through prototype, validation, and production release
- Direct and manage engineering team activities
- Employ systems engineering disciplines, guiding requirements definition, architecture, and technical analysis
- Design and support electronic systems including optoelectronics, sensors, displays, and power management systems
- Develop box-level hardware architectures
- Perform technical analyses including electrical part stress and worst-case circuit analysis
- Generate and maintain technical documentation
- Lead and present at design reviews
- Review and create mechanical CAD models
Requirements For Senior Principal Development Engineer
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering required; MSEE preferred
- 10+ years in electronic design engineering, preferably in defense or aerospace sectors
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior engineers
- Multidisciplinary background across systems, mechanical, optical, thermal, and materials engineering
- Strong understanding of product assurance, cost control, and schedule adherence
- Proficiency in OrCAD for schematic capture and PSpice for circuit analysis
- Experience with SolidWorks 2023
- Familiarity with military standards
