Telesat, a leading global satellite operator listed on NASDAQ and TSX, is seeking an Application Developer to join their team in Ottawa. With over 50 years of experience in providing reliable satellite communications worldwide, Telesat is embarking on an exciting new chapter with their revolutionary Lightspeed LEO satellite network.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work on business-critical applications for a company at the forefront of satellite technology. As an Application Developer, you'll be responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting business applications using Python, Java, and C#. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and business acumen, as you'll be working with various stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in business application development, strong programming skills, and experience with web services and relational databases. Knowledge of Workday, particularly in Finance and HCM reporting, is considered a strong asset. Responsibilities For Application Developer

  • Develop understanding of company's application portfolio and development tools
  • Review and analyze business and system requirements
  • Provide estimates of development efforts and timelines
  • Design, code, test, and document software solutions
  • Conduct unit testing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues
  • Analyze existing systems for improvements
  • Communicate progress and risks to Manager
  • Lead modernization of legacy applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams

Requirements For Application Developer

Python
Java
  • Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in business application development
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, and C#
  • Experience with web services (REST/SOAP)
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL
  • Knowledge of software development best practices
  • Experience with cloud integrations
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Experience with Workday preferred
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, VB.NET, ASP.NET, SSRS Reporting, SharePoint, Microsoft Power BI preferred
