Description For Internship, Thermal HVAC Controls Engineer, Vehicle Controls (Winter/Spring 2025)

Tesla is seeking a Thermal HVAC Controls Engineer Intern for their Vehicle Controls team for Winter/Spring 2025. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge thermal management systems in electric vehicles.

As an intern, you'll be involved in researching and developing estimation and control algorithms for thermal management of the powertrain, battery, cabin HVAC, and heat pump. You'll build dynamic thermal system models using tools like Matlab/Simulink/Python and use them to develop and refine control strategies. Working closely with firmware/integration engineers, you'll perform on-vehicle testing to design, implement, test, debug, and calibrate algorithms.

This role requires a strong background in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and control systems. You should be pursuing an advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or Automotive Engineering. Experience with embedded firmware development in C/C++ is also beneficial.

The internship is full-time and on-site, starting around January 2025 and continuing through May 2025 or potentially into Summer 2025. Tesla offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k), and various other perks.

Join Tesla in driving forward the best customer experience in terms of performance, range, NVH, and cabin comfort in electric vehicles. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment at the forefront of sustainable transportation technology.
