Tesla Energy is seeking an experienced Engineering leader to head the Residential Energy Hardware team, focusing on innovative products like Powerwall, Energy Gateway, and Tesla Solar Inverter. Responsibilities For Manager, Mechanical Engineering, Residential Energy

  • Build positive team culture and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Own the system level design of energy products through production, launch, and ramp
  • Collaborate & drive other teams inside Tesla (Manufacturing, Test, NPI, Supply Chain)
  • Drive engineering process improvements within the team
  • Lead design and architecture reviews of mechanical systems and components
  • Generate and maintain product and component design requirements
  • Drive prioritization & goals for the team
  • Nurture the career growth and development of your team

Requirements For Manager, Mechanical Engineering, Residential Energy

  • 8+ years of mechanical product design experience with track record of taking multiple products to market
  • 3+ years of management experience or experience in a technical leadership role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong engineering fundamentals across disciplines (thermals, fluids, structural mechanics)
  • Experience designing for high-volume assembly and manufacturing
  • Experience designing products for outdoor environments, including IP/NEMA environmental seals
  • Experience defining test plans, designing test setups, and analyzing data
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling
  • Experience with parametric CAD preferred
  • Experience with battery engineering including design to UL9540A preferred
