Tesla is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for their innovative Tesla Bot project, focusing on actuator integration for humanoid bi-pedal robots. This role is crucial in developing high-performance electromechanical rotary and linear actuator systems that will power the next generation of humanoid robots. The position combines mechanical, electrical, and electromagnetic engineering in a collaborative environment at Tesla's Palo Alto facility.

Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer, Actuator Integration, Tesla Bot

  • Design and integration of rotary and linear speed reduction systems for high performance motion control actuator application
  • Collaboration with electromagnetic motor design engineers to develop torque dense and efficient electromechanical actuator systems
  • Evaluate new technologies and design improvements for power dense, efficient, low cost, and reliable electromechanical gear systems
  • Design and build motor, gear, and actuator prototypes
  • Basic fabrication, machining, wiring, general electronics, debugging
  • Collaboration with supply chain, vendor, and manufacturing engineers

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer, Actuator Integration, Tesla Bot

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience with design of rotary and linear gear systems
  • Experience in mechanical engineering in product design and manufacturing
  • Experience with design and analysis of geared actuator systems
  • Experience with thermal analysis and design for passive and active cooling
  • Hands-on experience, previous project experience and/or internship preferred
  • Familiarity with electric motor, electric drive, and motion control technologies
