Job Description

As a Passive Safety Test Engineer at Tesla, you will be a crucial member of the Passive Safety test team based in Austin, TX. Your primary responsibility will be conducting crash testing to develop vehicle components, restraint systems, and sensing strategies, as well as performing regulatory and consumer rating tests to evaluate current and future vehicle designs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading crash test preparation and setup
  • Coordinating with program managers for test samples
  • Managing day-to-day test responsibilities with technicians
  • Processing and interpreting test data
  • Writing comprehensive test reports
  • Collaborating with internal engineering teams
  • Supporting post-test tear downs and inspections
  • Contributing to lab improvement projects

Requirements For Passive Safety Test Engineer

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams to drive product development
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Fine attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 10%)
  • Experience with vehicle safety testing protocols (nice to have)
  • CAD experience (nice to have)
