Description For Sr. Power Semiconductor Device Engineer

Tesla is seeking a Senior Power Semiconductor Device Engineer to join their innovative team in developing cutting-edge power electronics for electric vehicle platforms. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on the next generation of traction inverter technology at one of the world's leading electric vehicle manufacturers.

The position involves working with a team of innovative Electrical Engineers who are pioneering advanced power electronics solutions for current and future vehicle platforms. The drive inverter design team is dedicated to creating world-class performance designs that can be manufactured at scale.

As a Senior Power Semiconductor Device Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing and analyzing power semiconductor devices, conducting experiments, and implementing screening methods. You'll work on high-voltage applications and collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines to optimize inverter performance.

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $100,160 to $273,480 annually, plus additional benefits including comprehensive healthcare, 401(k) with employer match, and stock purchase options. Responsibilities For Sr. Power Semiconductor Device Engineer

  • Develop experiments and statistical trade-off studies to analyze device performance and lifetime
  • Characterize, develop, and validate high voltage power semiconductors device model for traction inverter applications
  • Develop screening methods for power semiconductors
  • Measure and analyze data including switching waveforms, losses and thermal performance
  • Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, PCBA, reliability, manufacturing and firmware engineering teams
  • Collaborate with internal and external suppliers to develop next generation power semiconductors
  • Solve challenges at scale for EV drive inverters

Requirements For Sr. Power Semiconductor Device Engineer

Python
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, physics, or equivalent experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of power semiconductors including SiC-MOSFET / semiconductor physics
  • Experience with high voltage applications >300V
  • Experience with scripting for data processing and test automation (MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW)
  • Proficiency with standard EE tools (scopes, network analyzers, signal generators, DAQs, etc.)
