Senior Software Engineer, Auto Retail Lending

The Auto Retail Lending team is focused on making it easy, fast, and seamless for car buyers to secure auto loans through dealership partners. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be working on building core technologies that power Upstart's Auto Finance platform, with emphasis on driving demand for auto loans by enabling dealership partners to create, present, and close loan offers efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead successful projects collaboratively with engineering team members and cross-functional partners
• Make architectural decisions to improve software quality and drive technical excellence
• Build dealership-facing tools for deal negotiation, loan creation, and contracting
• Ensure platform reliability and scalability for Auto Retail loan originations
• Monitor metrics like conversion rate, rate presentation, and share of wallet

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of full stack web application experience, with proven ability to build scalable APIs and services. You should be able to translate complex business requirements into system architecture and lead engineers on medium to large projects. Experience with Kotlin, Ruby, TypeScript, or React is preferred, along with knowledge of Docker, GitHub Actions, and AWS.
