Job Description

Wabtec Corporation is seeking a Lead Engineer for their RTPE (Relay, Train Protection, Energy) Group in Bengaluru, India. This role combines mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to design and develop critical safety systems for railway applications. The position offers an opportunity to work with a global leader in transportation technology, focusing on innovative solutions for the rail industry.

The role involves designing electromechanical relays for high-integrity and safety-critical functions in rolling stock applications. You'll be responsible for comprehensive product development, from requirement analysis to detailed design engineering, including DFMEA, materials selection, and validation planning. The position requires strong technical expertise combined with project management skills.

As a Lead Engineer, you'll collaborate with global engineering teams, manage project metrics, and drive a culture of innovation and digital transformation. The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of experience in electromechanical relay design, preferably in railway or similar industries, along with strong technical skills in CAD design and materials science.

Responsibilities For Lead Engineer RTPE Group D&D

  • Design of Electromechanical Relays for high integrity / safety critical functions onboard rollingstock
  • Requirement analysis and developing technical specifications
  • Detailed design engineering including DFMEA, engineering calculations
  • Writing component design specifications and purchase specifications
  • Writing validation plans and manufacturing/assembly/service instructions
  • Technical review of product specifications
  • Project metrics management related to design reviews, quality, schedule and cost
  • Cross-functional collaboration with global engineering teams

Requirements For Lead Engineer RTPE Group D&D

Linux
  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/Electromechanical or STEM Majors
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in electromechanical relays design
  • Experience with Mechanical CAD design using CREO, Solidworks, Inventor
  • Knowledge of materials sciences including magnetics
  • Experience using PLM tools such as Teamcenter
  • Strong communication skills with good command of English
  • Design experience for RAMS, Reliability/MTBF assessments
  • Experience with EN61508/EN50126 standards
