Job Description

Wanderlog is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to join their travel technology startup. Founded in 2019 by twin brothers from Yale, Stripe, McKinsey, and Google backgrounds, Wanderlog has grown to serve millions of travelers monthly with their top-ranked trip planning app.

As an engineer at Wanderlog, you'll work on a modern JavaScript/TypeScript stack using React, React Native, and Node.js to build features that make travel planning easier and more accessible. The role offers significant ownership and autonomy - you'll not only code but also participate in product decisions, user research, and design discussions.

The team of 8 (including 7 engineers) values work-life balance, offering regular hours, team lunches, and twice-annual travel offsites. They believe in moving fast while being thoughtful about technical decisions, putting travelers first, and treating teammates with respect.

Key projects you might work on include:

  • Building user-friendly hotel booking interfaces
  • Developing AI-powered tools to summarize travel content
  • Optimizing the React Native mobile app performance
  • Creating a Chrome extension for travel research
  • Improving collaboration and social features

The ideal candidate is a JavaScript developer comfortable with React, has product sense, can learn new technologies quickly, and loves travel. You'll be working directly with the founders in a fast-paced startup environment where you can wear multiple hats and make a significant impact.

The company offers competitive compensation ($70K-$100K), equity (0.10%-0.25%), and a collaborative culture focused on making travel more accessible to everyone. Their hiring process includes async programming challenges, a coding interview, and a virtual onsite.

Wanderlog is a self-sustaining startup that has built several successful travel products. The founders previously created Coursetable (featured in NYT), BookWithMatrix, and All the Flight Deals. They're now focused on making Wanderlog the best tool for travel planning and discovery.

This is an excellent opportunity for new graduates or early-career engineers who want to join a growing startup, work with modern technologies, and help make travel easier for millions of people.
