Web Engineer

Wattpad is seeking an experienced Web Engineer to join their team and play a vital role in the development and maintenance of web applications. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of front-end technologies and a passion for building innovative and user-friendly web applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring web features from concept to production
• Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and responsive front-end code
• Implement and optimize front-end performance, including load times, responsiveness, and accessibility
• Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile development environment
• Stay up-to-date with the latest web development trends and technologies
• Ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end systems

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Web Engineer
• Strong proficiency in front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Experience with React for client-side rendering and Node.js for server-side rendering
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with Remix and TypeScript
• Experience migrating legacy code bases to modern tech stacks
• Experience working on web applications serving millions of users daily

Wattpad offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $130,000 CAD per year, along with various benefits including health coverage, RRSP/401K contributions, generous vacation, parental leave top-up, and more.
