Senior Fullstack Engineer, Simulation

As a Senior full-stack SWE in the Driver Understanding & Evaluation Experience team at Waymo, you'll work on the user-facing infrastructure that all of Waymo uses to understand the Waymo Driver's performance. These web-based applications help to smooth the build, evaluate, sort, launch workflow and are used by every part of Waymo, including SWEs, PMs, Data Scientists, Ops, and Research. These tools are a core part of solving almost every self-driving challenge Waymo faces.

You will work with a growing team and collaborate directly with users, product managers, and UX to build and own products that improve Waymo's engineering capabilities around our toughest self-driving challenges. In this hybrid role, you will report to a Software Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Build seamless web tools and efficient data pipelines for simulated and driving events evaluation, sorting tens of millions of data points used by Waymo Ops and Eng.
• Build auto-sorting pipelines that provide useful signals and clustering for sorting productivity and quality improvement, incorporating technologies like LLMs and generative AI.
• Collaborate across teams, with SWEs, Product Managers, Data Science, Operations, and UX to build the best user experience for our developer tools and improve the development speed of Waymo software engineers.
• Engineering solutions with an eye towards quality, performance, and stability.

Requirements:

• Experience with modern web frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, TypeScript, or Dart).
• Experience with server-side development.
• Experience with infrastructure work: building internal tools, frameworks, and libraries.
• Excitement about working on autonomous vehicles.

Preferred qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience with C++.
• 5+ years of experience building developer productivity tools with a high degree of product excellence.
• An MS in Computer Science or a similar discipline. An equivalent amount of real-life experience is also welcome.
• 5+ years of experience communicating and coordinating across teams.
• 5+ years of experience with web-based full-stack development.
