Senior Software Engineer, Model Evaluation - Simulation

Waymo, an industry leader in autonomous driving technology, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Simulator team in Mountain View, California. This is an exciting opportunity to work on state-of-the-art simulations for testing and training the Waymo Driver, the world's most experienced autonomous driving system.

The role focuses on developing and implementing novel methods to measure simulation realism, working with machine learning models to create realistic environments including vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, roads, and weather conditions. You'll be instrumental in creating metrics to assess simulation quality, identify sim2real gaps, and develop loss functions to train more realistic simulators.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Simulator team, you'll collaborate with world-class engineers and researchers who use large models to improve simulation realism. Your work will directly impact the evaluation and improvement of the Waymo Driver, which has already provided over one million rider-only trips and driven tens of millions of miles autonomously across 13+ U.S. states.
