Software Engineer, Mapping

Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company born from Google's Self-Driving Car Project, is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Mapping team. Since 2009, Waymo has been dedicated to developing the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—which has already provided over one million rider-only trips and autonomously driven tens of millions of miles across 13+ U.S. states.

The Mapping team plays a crucial role in Waymo's mission by building high-resolution maps that support safe autonomous driving. This position offers an opportunity to work on sophisticated backend infrastructure for storing and processing map data, while designing systems that dynamically respond to fleet signals. You'll be involved in applying automated techniques for map generation and improving internal tools for map visualization and editing.

As a Software Engineer on the Mapping team, you'll collaborate with various Waymo teams that consume map data, contributing to the scalability of systems that support mapping the world. The role requires 3-5 years of experience in building server-side infrastructure and data processing, along with strong problem-solving abilities and excellent collaboration skills.
