Job Description
Weave (YC W25) is seeking a Founding AI Engineer to build AI solutions that understand and improve software engineering workflows. As the first AI engineer, you will establish processes and standards to facilitate feature development and create intelligent solutions that significantly enhance the work of engineering teams. This role involves building agents or chatbots using LLMs, including fine-tuning or leveraging pre-built models. You will work directly with the CTO and CEO, gaining valuable support and growth opportunities, similar to the experiences of a founding engineer. The company is backed by top investors and growing rapidly, offering a competitive compensation and equity package. The role is based in-person in San Francisco, fostering a strong office culture and close collaboration with leadership. This is an excellent opportunity to make a substantial impact in a well-funded, early-stage startup focused on leveraging AI to transform software engineering practices. Compensation ranges from $140,000 to $200,000, plus equity ranging from 0.2% to 1%.
Responsibilities
- Build AI to understand and improve the work that software engineers do
- Build processes and standards as you go to make building every incremental feature easier
- Delight customers with intelligence that makes their job 10x easier
- Build agents or chatbots that utilize LLMs
- Fine-tune or using pre-built LLMs
Requirements

- Relevant professional experience
- Previous AI experience is necessary
- Don't need experience training models from scratch
