Job Description

Xero is seeking a Lead Engineer for their Ecosystem team, a crucial role that combines hands-on coding with technical leadership. This position is part of a well-established division managing the Xero App Store, developer portal, and innovative projects including embedded applications and AI agent integrations. As a Lead Engineer, you'll be embedded in one of four teams while influencing technical direction across the entire Ecosystem.

The role demands a strong technical leader who can actively contribute code while driving architectural decisions and mentoring team members. You'll work with modern technologies including C#, TypeScript, and React, building scalable systems on AWS. This is a senior Individual Contributor position focused on technical excellence rather than people management.

Xero offers an attractive benefits package including generous paid leave, health insurance, and an Employee Share Plan. The company culture emphasizes work-life balance with flexible working arrangements and comprehensive wellbeing programs. The position provides an opportunity to impact millions of users while working on cutting-edge technologies in a supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with excellent communication skills, bringing a bias for action and a passion for continuous improvement. You'll be instrumental in shaping major initiatives and accelerating the team's delivery while maintaining high engineering standards. This role offers the unique opportunity to influence technical strategy while remaining hands-on with development.
