OTT Live Video Engineer, YouTube

YouTube TV is an over-the-top (OTT) streaming service that brings live TV and video-on-demand over the internet to your phone, tablet, computer, or smart TV. It complements YouTube's core ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) model by adding live sports, news, and local and premium content at a price cheaper than traditional cable. The OTT Engineering team's mission is to deliver a future-proof video streaming platform by building and integrating tools and services to support the most reliable and resilient signal acquisition, workflow optimization, and highest quality media delivery.

As an OTT Live Video Engineer, you will manage vendor engagements, partner with content providers, and work cross-functionally across YouTube with various technical and business teams. You will support all aspects of OTT focused on content ingestion and processing, with the goal of building the next iteration of YouTube OTT's ingestion infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing architectural guidance and integration support for a globally scaled live streaming platform
• Partnering with content companies, third-party aggregators, and vendors to ingest premium live content
• Developing new metrics and optimizing existing ones to benchmark stream quality and reliability
• Developing and advocating operational processes and contributing to workflow automation
• Partnering with software engineering teams to build and deploy scalable software for media content and metadata

This role requires experience in video streaming, broadcast engineering, technical operations, or technical product management, as well as system design/architecture, integration, and broadcast or streaming infrastructure build-outs.
