YouTube Trust and Safety is seeking a Product Manager to lead their GenerativeAI Safety initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of AI innovation and platform safety, focusing on developing and scaling safety and fairness capabilities for new Generative AI features across text, image, and video modalities.

The position requires a blend of technical expertise in Machine Learning and AI, with a strong focus on product management and safety considerations. You'll be responsible for ensuring new features are safe to launch by building detection systems that can identify unsafe output, while working to improve model fairness through cross-functional collaboration.

As a Product Manager in this role, you'll work with diverse teams including engineering, UX/UI, legal, policy, and operations to guide products from conception to launch. The role demands someone who can break down complex problems, understand the technical implications of AI systems, and advocate for user safety while contributing to responsible AI development practices.

YouTube offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $122,000-$178,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Product Manager, GenerativeAI Safety, YouTube Trust and Safety

  • Partner with creative cross-functional teams looking to launch AI-based products
  • Leverage Machine Learning and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to build detection systems with real world impact; test their performance, and iterate
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, feature, legal, policy, operations, UX and other teams to build systems to enable GenAI features
  • Advocate for user safety and contribute to the development of best practices, policies or process for responsible AI development
  • Be an expert on risk AI can introduce into a feature

Requirements For Product Manager, GenerativeAI Safety, YouTube Trust and Safety

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience in product management or a related technical role
  • 1 year experience in an investigative role like developing Machine Learning based products or Machine Learning based classification/ranking systems
  • 1 year of experience taking technical consumer products from conception to launch
  • Master's degree in a technology or business related field (preferred)
  • 2 years of experience in a business function or role (preferred)
  • 2 years of experience in preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership (preferred)
  • 2 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX/UI, and other stakeholders (preferred)
  • Experience with Trust and Safety (content moderation) and AI/ML fairness (preferred)
