Job Description

Zinnia, a leading technology platform in the life and annuities sector, is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join their team in Hyderabad. With over $180 billion in assets under administration and serving 100+ carrier clients, Zinnia is at the forefront of simplifying insurance product experiences.

The role requires an experienced data engineer with 10-14 years of expertise in big data and data engineering, particularly with Google Big Query and Apache Airflow. As a Staff Data Engineer, you'll lead the development of next-generation data infrastructure, optimize workflows across different data realms, and mentor junior engineers.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in data integration, transformation, and ETL processes, combined with excellent leadership and communication skills. Responsibilities For Staff Data Engineer

  • Build next gen data infrastructure using dbt, Apache Airflow, and Google Big Query
  • Design, build, and optimize data workflows across realtime, nearline and offline data realms
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting complex data-related issues
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and recommend best practices
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers

Requirements For Staff Data Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 10-14 years of experience in big data, data engineering
  • Strong expertise in data integration, transformation using Big Query, traditional databases
  • Proficiency in ELT/ETL processes and tools (Informatica, DBT, Airbyte, Singer.io, Meltano, Apache Airflow)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based environments and technologies
  • In-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts
  • Knowledge of data quality and governance principles
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects
