Good Engineering Managers Simply Care
A good manager understands that if your personal life isn't going well, your work performance will almost certainly be negatively affected.
This is why good EMs genuinely care about how you're doing as a person.
In 1:1s, they will always listen intently.
If you're not doing well, they will allocate extra time to help you figure things out and just to be there to support you.
