Process

NOTE: I got an offer for employment, but the offer was rescinded after I disclosed I had a felony.

So the interview process consisted of 2 phone interviews and 2 Zoom calls with a webcam. The phone interviews were pretty straightforward, asking about my past experience and background. The Zoom calls were more in-depth as I had to do a showcase interview where I led a lesson on a piece of technology that could help them solve a business problem for the first Zoom meeting. The second Zoom meeting was more of a characterization interview where they asked hypothetical questions to see how I would respond to different situations at work. Overall, the interviews were straightforward and not difficult.

After all the interviews, I was called to be informed that they wanted to make me an offer for employment, which I accepted and signed all the paperwork. After I signed the offer letter and was provided a start date, I was informed that they would then need to conduct a background check. I unfortunately had a felony in my record and informed the hiring team as such so they knew ahead of time.

Based on the company's code of ethics of being completely inclusive, that they "go beyond legal requirements and prohibit discrimination in any form," and the fact that they even did a case study about the importance of hiring people impacted in the legal system and bragged about their "Skills to Succeed Initiative" for felons, I found it hypocritical that the company rescinded the offer letter for employment in an email.

While the offer cancellation email was cordial and very vague as to the reasoning for the withdrawal and informed me to contact them with the provided link for any questions, interestingly enough, that link took me to the Accenture employment page to log in and contact an HR rep. However, they had deactivated my login, so I couldn't reach out. Upon emailing them for feedback and a better understanding of the decision-making process, my email was just ignored.

So yeah, a bitter taste in my mouth with that experience with a company that brags about being progressive and inclusive when they just hide behind hypocrisy.
