You don't get a choice of what you want to work on. The concerns of the employees at a lower level don't even matter to the senior management. Unnecessary codes to follow that have no moral or business value.
Believe in the capabilities of your employees and let them do some good work.
Give employees the technology of their choice whenever available, and don't schedule them in any random project by simply making excuses like, "All the scheduling is done by automated tools."
