Cons

If you're an entry-level engineer solely interested in technical work, think twice before accepting an offer from Accenture. Part of it is that they've recently hired far too many people and don't have enough projects for them, but the main problem is that Accenture cares more about getting you off the bench than giving you a role in your area of expertise. I was lucky enough to get a developer role, which is the only reason I'm staying, but I'm seeing a lot of other entry-level people around me get staffed as business analysts, tech support, and even doing admin/secretary work.

When I first joined, I worried about getting pigeonholed into an unpopular or undesirable technology. Now, I'm just glad my role involves any sort of technical work at all!

If I could do it all over again, I'd even take a lower-paying job instead of gambling on the staffing process at Accenture. It's one thing to accept that new joiners are low on the totem pole and may not get the greatest projects. It's another to be faced with a completely different job than what you were hired for. I can't even imagine the harm it does to a new software developer's career growth to be stuck doing spreadsheets or working call centers instead of gaining actual relevant experience.

Advice to Management

Don't hire engineers and then waste them on non-technical roles. Hire some more Talent Fulfillment Specialists to match the insane number of new hires, so we actually get feedback and help for staffing while on the bench.
