While healthy competition is great, the desire to do better than others pushes several people to their limits and gains favor among management. Subsequently, there is an uneven distribution of work, which causes a few people to run away with all the laurels while some talented people are not utilized properly. That, in the long term, breeds resentment and is not very healthy as employees face a lot of stress.
