Cons

The performance cycle is mostly a time cycle, having no relation to your actual performance. You will be told that you can wait a few more years for a promotion, and it will be given to someone who is at the same level for a longer time, even if they don't deserve it.

Advice to Management

Take into account an individual's performance and learn to respect it in the performance cycle, not just in "appreciation mails."
