Pros

Senior management actually values your insights and rewards you accordingly.

Cons

Politics, along with a few bad experiences in terms of managers and supervisors, but each company has its quota of black sheep.

While on bench (or ITP or RMG, as it's called in other companies), there are stringent rules related to chargeability and strong tabs kept by the HR department.

Advice to Management

A general suggestion that the majority of IT firms should incorporate:

Come up with a model, framework, or a series of tests that assess the aptitude of freshers being hired. A person might have a knack for doing well in a testing role and, down the road, has a much better chance of faring exceptionally well in that stream, whilst another person may despise testing. Likewise, some freshers may not be techies or come from CS/IT backgrounds, and they end up in coding.

In short, the current process of allocating streams/verticals to freshers is based on randomization and driven by company needs. However, it should be driven by employee aptitude as well, apart from company needs in the global market.
