The community has definitely taken a massive hit since COVID (in a lot of parts). People aren't engaged or motivated anymore (ignoring the work outside hours bit, not promoting that).
Pay isn't competitive depending on level/output.
Becoming too big to fail means the company requires exponentially more to sustain. Selling 'more' all the time requires concessions. You've to cut costs somewhere, and that hits the workers. Then you also need to risk more to try and sell, meaning we expose ourselves too often. All of this feeds into a more difficult yet less rewarding workplace.
The talent pool is simply diluted.
Too many 'average' people hang around long enough to make it to influential positions.
People are afraid to be controversial or decision-makers.
The only real chance can come from top down, so advice would be lost. It's not fair to pin the current state on even local MDs; they can only do so much within a framework. Being too big to fail also means stripping individuals of the freedom to make change.
