Process

I had a great recruiting and interviewing process.

It felt very personalized and not like I was just a number.

I had a few conversations with the recruiter and hiring manager, followed by a panel.

They were kind enough to spread the interviews over multiple days and accommodate my hectic schedule (they would typically do it all in 1 day).

After the panel, I spoke with the CTO, and later with the CEO.

Cons: Under-resourced, Too many projects and very little time. A clear definition of expectations for the role, right from the get-go, is needed but was lacking from my viewpoint.

Cons: Under-resourced, Too many projects and very little time. A clear definition of expectations for the role, right from the get-go, is needed but was lacking from my viewpoint.

Pros: Good people. Good culture in some teams still exists.

Cons: Management has no idea what needs to be done, which is why the company is falling apart. A common perception is that their equity is not worth anything anymore. They cancelled the IPO due to that fear. Insane amount of churn. Many new employees left within the first month.

Pros: Acorns has been attracting a high caliber of talent since the company went remote. Engineering and management quality is going up and should only increase after the IPO. Compensation is rising to meet other public companies post IPO.

Cons: Management changes direction often, which is okay. However, it also does a poor job of communicating these changes to the rest of the company. Goals and OKRs for teams can be unclear, which slows down the velocity of the company as a whole.
