Lead Software Engineer • Former Employee
Pros: 1. Flexible work environment, great technologies, and latest technical skills to be learned with an emphasis on innovation.
Adobe provides a platform to grow professionally as well as personally.
1. Lots of opportunities to present your ideas.
2. Free breakfast (corn flakes), lunch, snacks (Maggi/oats), and dinner.
3. ESPP contribution (25%) is the best. I don't know if Adobe India considers this while doing appraisals each year.
4. Job security is good here; I have seen layoffs rarely unless you are a very low performer.
5. Higher management like VPs, SVPs, and CEOs, who are mostly in the US, are doing a great job driving the company.
Cons: Work - As a QE (Software Engineer), you need to take care of your skill set development as the company provides less of that kind of work.
There's a lot of manual testing and repetitive work in some of the teams, especially in Bangalore.
If you are a fresher and you think you deserve more, then it's better not to get stuck in the early phase of your career.
Pay & Benefits - There is huge disparity between the salaries of QEs and Devs from the start, and it keeps on increasing as you stay longer in the company.
Work-Life balance is good since they know they have to give something to QEs :)
There are not many products driven from India as higher management and developers are focused mostly on filing patents.
Higher management in India is Dev-centric, so that reflects everywhere in work, pay, etc.
HRs provide wrong information about job profiles, saying 70% coding and 30% testing while hiring.
Sometimes they hire experienced people at wrong levels, so be careful about this.
