Senior Software Development Engineer In Test Interview Experience - Emeryville, California

Process

This was with Adobe at Emeryville. They are basically TubeMogul, acquired by Adobe. So it's a mixed bag; don't expect the same Adobe experience.

  1. Call with the hiring manager. No coding, which was concerning.
  2. Setup for an onsite interview in a week or so.
  3. There were four technical interviews onsite. All coding.
  4. The third interviewer screwed up the experience. She appeared biased, irritated, and mean. She asked an open-ended coding question: "Design a parser to parse different types of inputs (XML/JSON/etc) and send it to a common function to process the data." When it was my turn to ask questions, I asked how the team was and how the hiring manager was. She snapped at me, saying she is also supposed to be at the same level as the hiring manager and insinuated that she deserved a promotion.

Rest of the interviewers were good and respectful. I am not too worried about not getting the offer and would have left a positive review, had it not been for this one low-caliber interviewer.

Questions

  1. Design a parser to parse different types of inputs (XML/JSON/etc.).
  2. Simple standard coding questions.
