Pros

Opportunity to work with some of the best programmers and world-class products that are the bread and butter of creative professionals, like Flash and Photoshop.

Good pay (mostly at the 70-80 percentile of peers in a similar domain).

Flexible work hours.

Free lunch.

ESPP, insurance, and other benefits.

Cons

The appraisal and feedback process is a farce. Middle management has a free hand most of the time.

Not working on weekends can be considered a factor in performance appraisal that can even result in exit.

Ten to fifteen percent of people are forced to exit after every appraisal, while people at other locations get retrenched in layoffs with good severance packages.

Advice to Management

Have same standards for the world and India (like flying class, accommodation).

Listen and respond to people at the grassroots because they tell you where the product is heading better than managers whose fat AIP depends on uneventful releases.

It is not sufficient to have employees click through morale and ethics slides. When a serious question is raised, answer it in the most transparent manner.
