Management/leadership culture is quite toxic and politics-filled, with favoritism and toxic strategies being rewarded. I have not seen great managers/directors, only great individual contributors. Most managers/directors have to play the toxic game to get ahead.
Present research work in detail. QA with interview questions about the research details, such as model and problem definition, and publications. Follow with a coding round featuring a medium-level LeetCode problem.
I had two phases of interviews. One was with the manager and it was 15 minutes. The other one was a technical interview, which was 45 minutes. I liked the experience.
Basic LeetCode in 2025 is kind of outdated. It is time to embrace the age of LLM. Perhaps the only thing that matters is a good taste in the domain.
