Some QEs get to do interesting work.
Not all QEs get good work. Usually, they get boring manual testing and very repetitive work, which is not challenging at all. This is probably a bad job to be stuck in.
Performance and appraisals are biased towards developers. As stated, QEs don't get to do great work, and hence this reflects in their appraisals. QEs are stuck with boring things to do, and all their time is lost there.
There is a huge divide between QEs and DEVs. The devs have a condescending attitude towards the QEs.
Better pay and more respect for QEs
