SDE-2 Interview Experience - India

Process

Horrible interview.

A bunch of oversmart people from the US will take your interview in panic mode. They have hired cheap recruiters in Gurgaon who don't even know how many tech employees are there in Gurgaon.

I cleared HackerRank 100/100.

First interview: The HackerRank screen was black, and I couldn't see the cursor, so I couldn't write code properly. I wrote halfway through in my editor. The problem link the interviewer shared didn't open on my system, so he shared his screen. After reading the big question, I shared my screen to show my editor. I was given a problem with three sub-problems, which I ran at the last moment. The interviewer gave positive feedback, but wrote some contradictory feedback.

Second round was pathetic: I was given two problems. One I solved in 5 minutes and showed the output. The second problem was from competitive programming. I told a beautiful approach and solution and said I would use a Priority Queue to do some task. This interviewer asked why, and after I explained the reason, he said he understood. I was left with 10 minutes to code it, as half the time went in deciding the solution and explaining it to this dumb interviewer. When I started writing the code, he kept asking again why I was using a Priority Queue multiple times, and he lacked knowledge and concepts himself.

I think I wrote a beautiful solution and buggy code, but I could write the whole approach in 10 minutes. To this, the interviewer said he wasn't expecting working code.

These guys will make you panic in 45 minutes by asking 2-3 tough problems and weirdly decide who goes through.

Not recommended at all, unless you are passing time like them.

US interviewers will simply waste your time, and Indian recruiters are slaves to them. They will call you 10 times before the interview and won't even have the decency to reply to your email once done.

Questions

Not recommended at all. Bunch of oversmart US interviewers and spineless Indian recruiters who don't even know as to how many tech employees are present at the Gurgaon centre.
