The interview process began with a HackerRank assessment, followed by two technical phone interviews and one cross-functional interview.
The HackerRank was straightforward. The two subsequent phone interviews were a mixed bag.
The first technical interview was pleasant, conducted by a senior infrastructure developer who was invested in the process and provided helpful guidance.
The second technical interview, however, was with an iOS engineer working from home who seemed disengaged. After posing a fairly simple question with follow-ups, many of his comments were condescending rather than helpful. This inconsistency suggests a variation in engineering culture, and the unenthusiastic nature of this interview was disappointing.
The cross-functional interview was also pleasant, although the conversation felt somewhat one-sided due to a barrage of "tell me about a time" questions.
Overall, I had a mostly positive experience with the recruiting coordinator and the majority of the interview process. However, the second phone interview was a significant drawback, especially for a company that markets itself as fostering a host culture.
