Pros

Initially when I joined, it was an awesome company. Good management, good learning environment.

Great team and a great manager.

  • Good pantry
  • Good incentives
Cons
  1. In the last 3 years, they hired managers from service industries, and after that, there were problems.
  2. New management is technically handicapped, micromanages, and has no spine.
  3. They have a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" attitude.
  4. Wrong hiring: Partiality in the hiring process, employee referrals getting hired despite not being up to the mark.
  5. No transparency in promotion, roles, or task allocation.
  6. Managers do backbiting during 1-1 meetings.
  7. Managers are unable to guide employees in their growth and development.
  8. Managers go with fellow employees' points of view and feedback.
  9. Spineless management: They only have a "Yes Sir" approach.
  10. Managers threaten to change the team or quit the job.

In all, Akamai has lost its flavor, and they need to work on their India management if they want attrition to go down.

Advice to Management

Hire technically capable and sensible management. Someone who knows management beyond filling Excel sheets.
