Many transformations (advertising content to SaaS Security, now to Cloud computing) have caused frequent layoffs, even when the company is hitting its numbers. They also seem to be performing aggressive recruiting in regions such as Poland, Ottawa, etc., which have a much lower cost of living than the US.
Please consider retraining from within when company focus changes rather than tossing perfectly good "veteran" Akamai engineers out to the street.
It's a waste of time and money in the long run, as newly recruited people have to spend months learning Akamai technology.
