Process

The overall process was not pleasant. The entire interview process took almost four months.

The first role I interviewed for was filled while waiting for my next interview. Luckily, the recruiter found another good fit.

The interview process was too long, and the questions were wordy to the point where I felt I could not follow the STAR method when answering. The questions asked were repetitive; although they sounded different, they were essentially the same question, and the answer I provided to a prior question would have been the same for the current one.

I have many examples to provide from my experience, but the questions asked were for specific, repetitive situations that did not accurately represent what I could offer.

Each group asked up to five questions, along with follow-up questions. I could not find the time to ask my own questions to determine culture fit. I wanted to interview with direct team members and discuss the role with the internal customers it would serve.

I couldn't really identify the culture or the growth opportunity in the role. I enjoyed talking to the hiring manager; however, I wish I had spoken with him sooner rather than only once during the six-hour interview. I had follow-up questions about the role after talking to the other members.

Ultimately, I am relieved that I was not presented with an offer, as it seemed like it wasn't a good fit based on the background I was receiving. I believe I was overqualified and felt at peace with the final decision.
