The phone interview was supposed to be about the position and basic coding questions. In fact, it was a coding exercise, leadership principles, and behavioral questions using STAR and Amazon's leadership principles. The coding exercise required programming a stack using any language.

Pros: - Great learning opportunities.
- Great pay.
- Get lots of ownership, so great stories for the resume.
- Work at large scale, so you find a lot of niche problems and how to build for many people.
- Really smart colleagues.
- Very collaborative culture.
- Good management, and senior engineers are all very good.
Cons: - High stress and expectations.
- On-call means that you can be woken up in the middle of the night.
- Diversity in general, especially gender. This is common across the org, not just Brisbane.
- Not many benefits compared to other similar companies besides pay.
