Process

I recently got an interview opportunity at Amazon for SDE-1. There were a total of 3 rounds on the same day, back to back.

Two of them were coding rounds, and one was a CS fundamentals and project-based discussion round.

Questions

I should not reveal the particular questions, but they ask normal Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) questions, the kind that most companies ask. Topics could include Dynamic Programming (DP), Trees, Graphs, etc. Nothing fancy that you wouldn't have seen before.

The first two rounds had two questions each and could last up to an hour.

The third round was with the Manager. I was asked detailed conceptual questions around Multithreading, Inheritance, Memory Management, etc. He seemed very smart, as he went into the depth of each question.

In all three rounds, I was also asked a couple of behavioral questions, such as: Tell me about something you innovated. Tell me about something you recently debugged. Tell me about an issue that you fixed in production. Remember not to lie in behavioral questions, because they can verify things online and counter-question you. This happened in my case. Not that I lied, but he wanted to verify whatever I was saying.
