Process

I applied online and made it to the phone screen. The interview involved one senior engineer and a shadow. It was a one-hour voice interview, with half the time dedicated to behavioral questions, followed by a coding challenge, and then a few minutes for Q&A.

The interviewer was amiable and did not make me feel uncomfortable.

It was pretty much what I'd expected in terms of questions, but the pressure got to me, so I fluffed it. The coding challenge was conducted in a shared markdown editor.

I received an email within 48 hours advising that I had been unsuccessful.

Questions

A set of behavioural questions. You'll get the gist of what they'll ask by searching online.

Examples include:

  • Tell me about a time your project was running late and what did you do about it.
  • Tell me about a time a colleague stopped pulling their weight and how you handled that.

Coding questions involved a basic coin change calculator, similar to what's on LeetCode. The challenge itself wasn't too hard; you just need a clear head to figure it out.

My mistake was I let the moment get to me and couldn't complete it.
