Pros: No, nobody is crying at their desk. Work-life balance in my team is pretty good. Off-hand project management. Within a certain constraint, you can work however you want, whatever you want, and whenever you want. A lot of smart people around you. People respect you because you work for Amazon.

Cons: Recent large-scale hiring brought some mediocre engineers to the company. Bad onboarding experience. Amazon relies on your team to onboard you. When the team doesn't have a plan, you get in trouble. I can see that if you are not a top-notch developer, you may struggle with the job. People have high expectations, and no one is going to tell you that you are doing a good job. NO FREE LUNCH

Pros: The company brand looks good on a resume and opens up job opportunities after the 1.5-year mark. This is useful when you're a new grad. However, please read the cons. I would argue this perk is definitely not worth the negative impact it would have on your health and social life long term.

Cons: The company is run like a grey, monotonous machine that chews and spits out everyone. The management style and objectives are so messed up that you can never really know how to grow your career. Your growth areas will change on a whim based on whatever upper management needs to do with headcount. Couple this with the extreme toxic environment, poor work-life balance, and 24/7 pages even at 3 AM on weekends, this place is definitely a mistake for anyone that's not a sociopath. It's an absolute trash of a company that should be restricted from getting any larger and from mentally abusing so many of the futures of new grads. If you choose to work here despite reviews like this and several others, and you're not a sociopath, don't be surprised or complain about the trauma it causes you for a lifetime, just for 2 years of peanut pay (relative to other FAANG).
