Clear expectations and talented coworkers, but promotion hurdles
Software Engineer • Current Employee

Pros: - Very clear expectations around work and promotion.
- Talented coworkers.
- Lots of room to learn new and emerging tools, especially around AI.
Cons: - Getting paged in the middle of the night for a non-issue is very annoying.
- The line between L5 and L6 is very challenging to cross. Only about 15% of all engineers are L6 and above, so you might be stuck at L5 your whole career unless you’re really advocating for important projects (or they just happen to fall into your lap).

Cons: If in the wrong team or with the wrong manager, life will be tough.
