Pros: Increase your core engineering competencies. Some smart people, as well as many average people. There is worse if you are desperate for a job.
Cons: Most people leave within a year. It's a brutal workplace, and people are generally unhappy.
On-call (unpaid overtime) and a lot of the work is operational, not particularly interesting projects.
It's very difficult to make suggestions or improvements.
You are expected to do small tasks handed down by managers, and there are no excuses for delays for any reason.
Creative thinking is not welcomed at Amazon.
