Process
The 45-minute, one-on-one interview will focus on both behavioral and technical aspects.
The behavioral portion will include questions related to leadership principles, such as those commonly found in Amazon’s Leadership Principles. You will be asked to provide examples of situations demonstrating qualities like:
- Ownership
- Customer obsession
- Bias for action
- Delivering results

Pros: You will learn a lot about software, whether or not your role is directly software-related. Your skills will improve significantly during your time at Amazon.
Cons: Amazon will actively try to work you to death. It was common for my team to commit code at 1 am. Developers who refuse to work extended hours are regularly fired for "not meeting the bar".
It's also a highly political environment. Your promotion or firing is determined by your ability to gather consensus among the managers.
