I applied for the AWS Solutions Architect position via the Amazon careers page.
I received an email asking me to complete online technical and behavioral assessments.
Subsequently, I received an email stating I had passed the online tests and that the next round of interviews would be arranged within June. However, this did not happen in June.
After waiting over a month, I received an email asking for my availability for the first round of interviews.
No one walked me through the interview process, though the email asked me to prepare for the STAR format. Therefore, I was expecting a non-technical interview.
On the interview day, I discovered it was a technical interview where I was asked questions to gauge my technical breadth and depth. Unfortunately, my background is in software development, and I was unable to answer simple questions on infrastructure, networking, and storage. I was not prepared for a technical interview because the email asked me to prepare for the STAR format and made no mention of a technical interview.
This entire process was below expectations for a corporation as large as Amazon.
Beginner-level questions on infra, network, storage, security, and application development.
Questions will go deeper if you are well-versed in an area.
Absolutely no behavioral questions, contrary to what was indicated in the interview scheduling email.
