Pros

Some of my colleagues are really brilliant.

Flexibility works in many different sectors, technologies, and business problems.

Cons

Managers are using the performance review and coaching system to ensure obedience. The "Have Backbone, disagree and commit" principle is interpreted by them as "Be boneless, a smooth-talking snake, and obey."

After hiring so many people that didn't raise the bar, the system is redefining itself to make a home for these people.

Advice to Management

I really don't know how you will resolve this mess, but most of the smart people that I know are in trouble with your performance management system. If you don't make a critical stop decision this year, you will lose all the people who matter.
