- Work with some of the best people in the industry.
- Teams are largely autonomous.
- Challenges you to continuously get better.
- Pretty good pay (though about average for top-tier tech).
- Recent corporate decisions are demoralizing.
- Can be overly challenging if you are not invested in the work.
- On-call work can be stressful (at least at first).
Pay more attention to employee morale, and make decisions with that as a key metric. You may be considered a top employer in the tech space now, but if you don't start focusing on actually making Amazon a great place to work, these talented and experienced people have no trouble finding other places that align better with their values.
