Some teams have high on-call, and your life will be gone. If your manager is not very good (good is not enough), your career will go for a toss.
Choose your team and manager wisely because a manager is like the captain of your boat, and it is a race.
Promote employees to SDM wisely. As Amazon is data-driven, check for metrics around how easy people with non-SDE backgrounds can become SDMs versus those with SDE backgrounds.
